David Beckham speeding charge
Denies 59 mph in a 40 zone in London (in his Bentley).

Whats the betting that his solicitor is "Mr Loophole", Nick Freeman?

cholo 8:32:

It's more complicated than that. The CPS continued with the prosecution even after Mr Loophole sent them a copy of the Notice, date-stamped (by Bentley, who own the car) with the day after 14 days had expired. Not unreasonably in my view, especially with such a high-profile defendant, the CPS could not just accept that a first-class letter posted on the 2nd was not received until the 7th. So they went ahead with the trial at which the Bentley legal office clerk had to give evidence on oath that as she does twice a day, she had collected the postbag which included the Notice on the 7th, and had immediately opened and date-stamped all letters with the correct date. If Beckham did not have a lawyer, he would not have known that compliance the 14-day deadline can be disproved by the defence calling evidence. Of course Beckham was lucky in that of over 3500 Notices sent by the police on the 2nd, his seems to have been the only one which took so long to deliver!

1964, I live in deepest whitest Essex and find we are in a time where taking notice of traffic lights is optional, where if you stick to the speed limit you obviously have a problem and use of direction indicators is your business only and is to be kept secret until it's too late to have any useful effect.

Just hope little Harper isn't crossing the road some day and is flattened by some speeding moron

The roads are like the wild west out there now.

This morning some car with foreign plates done a left turn in front of me having been in the right turn lane. Happens all the time, jumping lights, reckless overtaking etc.

No police anymore to nick people, and to think I got a fine for no lights on a push bike years ago. Sickening.

The fine was issued late.

End of story.

He wont get a knighthood due to trying to wiggle out of his tax some time ago.

The Government has clamped down on giving awards to tax dodgers -a Tory government at that! and all them years labour where in power did nothing.

Speaking as a Labour voter as well

Re: David Beckham speeding charge
wtf are you talking about Norm? What have the yanks got to do with Beckham getting a speeding ticket in London?

Here's some facts for you.

During the Vietnam War (draft era to be precise) blacks of military age made up 13.5 percent of the total population, but only 9.7 percent of the Vietnam era military forces were black.

88.4 percent of the men who actually served in Vietnam were white. 10.6 percent of the men who actually served in Vietnam were black.

86.3 percent of the men who died in Vietnam were white. 12.5 percent of the men who died in Vietnam were black.

Doesn't back your claim that mainly black kids from poor backgrounds were sent to their deaths!

Just going to say the same thing cholo, I regularly get off parking tickets that are delivered outside the statuatory limit, first thing to check is the date of the letter/issue in relation to the offence.. almost all are out of date..

"Thrown out as the notice arrived a day late"

So no expensive lawyer need then, any one of us could've got off on a late notice. Nothing to see here.

Re: David Beckham speeding charge
So he is guilty, knows he is guilty but hires an expensive brief to get him off on a technicality, doubt the rest of us would have the money or resources to do that, and would have to cop the fine/conviction on the chin.

Beckham seems to want to portray himself as some sort of role model came Mr nice guy, and im sure he will be after a knighthood or similar in the coming years but all this has done is make him look like a selfish irresponsible cunt

sending mainly black lads from poor backgrounds to their deaths..without any kind of defence worth a wank is all wrong ..the yanks are a fucked up kind for sure.

they really are the thickest bunch of collective wankers crawling the earth.
still teenagers in their history is their only excuse..we have many shameful chapters in our own past..

Re: David Beckham speeding charge
Fair play to him - the law is the law

The law is also an arse

But it is what is it and celebs driving is the thin edge of the 'playing the sytem' wedge, so readily employed by the nations chav/asylum seeking benefit legal brains

And don't get me started upon those speculative cunts ringing me about accidents i never had

And to think, I am so proud of Crassus Jnr and his persuit of his straight law honours degree from a Russell Group University

Terrible PR for England's favourite 90s role model this.

He should have ignored Mr Loophole's advice and taken his punishment like any other decent non-scumbag.
